Triton alum Antionette Watson named Interim Head Coach of Edmonds Softball

LYNNWOOD — Former Triton standout catcher Antionette Watson has been named as the Interim Head Coach of the Edmonds College softball program.  Watson, who returned to the dugout this season as the Associate Head Coach, has been elevated to interim head coach after Grizz Stevens recently stepped down for personal reasons.    “We appreciate everything Grizz did the past two seasons. He worked extremely hard and leaves the program in a great place,” said athletic director Spencer Stark.  Watson's first stint with the program was as an assistant coach in 2018-19 when the team reached the NWAC Championship Game. Watson prepped at Kamiak High School and played for multiple travel teams including the Woodinville Reign, Slam Fastpitch, Blaze Fastpitch, and the Washington Hurricanes. LYNNWOOD -- Edmonds College softball is seeking applicants for the position of assistant coach for the upcoming year. Summary The position will report to the interim head softball coach and athletic director, and be involved with all aspects of the softball program. Edmonds men's hoops disposes Walla Walla in tourney opener

PASCO, Wash. –  Edmonds College men's basketball opened the NWAC Championship Tournament with a 85-76 triumph over third-ranked Walla Walla CC and will advance to the Elite 8 on Saturday. Chris Lee dropped a game-high 28 points The Tritons were successful in pushing the pace, especially in the first stanza, and controlled much of the contest. W alla Walla made multiple runs bolstered by their three-point shooting -- and in the second half cut the deficit to just one point -- but Chris Lee responded with two consecutive treys to put the Tritons back in front for good. Down the stretch, Chris Lee and Caleb Anglin both sank two free throws apiece to keep the lead in tact. Lee finished with 28 points, shooting 50% from the field. Caleb Anglin came up with a few key defensive stops and contributed a double-double off the bench with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Elyon Zevenbergen held the Warriors' strong interior game in check and registered a double-double (21 points, 10 rebounds)

Nico Arellano takes charge of Triton Women’s Soccer

LYNNWOOD – Nico Arellano is the new head coach of Edmonds College women’s soccer program. Originally from the Bay Area in California, Arellano was a goalkeeper on championship teams at Evergreen Valley College in San Jose, and at NCAA DII Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont (CA). He signed a professional contract with Real San Jose of the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL), playing from 2007-2010. Arellano was a two-time recipient of the NPSL National All-Star Award for goalkeeping. Arellano has 15 years of coaching experience, starting with Real San Jose, where he served in many roles including head coach, and director of youth programs with the organization. He returned to Evergreen Valley College to coach keepers in 2009 and was the head coach at Overfelt High School (CA) in 2010 and ’11.  He moved to Hawaii and worked with the Hawaii Rush and Hawaii Surf soccer clubs before moving to Washington. Baseball earns split at Everett behind Uemoto’s quality start in nightcap

EVERETT – Edmonds baseball was able to come away from Funko Field with an important split against Everett CC on Saturday to open NWAC North Region play.  Everett broke a scoreless tie in the opener when they tallied two runs in the bottom of the fourth; the Trojans added two more in the sixth. The Tritons pushed two runs across in the top of the eighth inning when Connor Bourbon singled with the bases juiced but Everett held on for the 4-2 win. Cameron Hougham was 2-for-4 with a double in the fifth, and single in the seventh. The two teams combined to muster just 7 hits in the game  Starter Kaden Lewis had his earliest exit of the season, going 3 2/3 innings, but he allowed no earned runs. Josh McLeod tabbed as permanent head coach of Edmonds women's basketball

Josh McLeod LYNNWOOD – Josh McLeod has been named head coach of the Edmonds College women’s basketball program. McLeod served as the interim coach this past season, stepping into the role the week of the team’s first game. It’s a fresh start and exciting time for Triton women’s basketball. Prior to his arrival at Edmonds, McLeod was the lead assistant for the Lincoln High School (Tacoma) boys program in 2018-19, head coach of the Texas RedWolves of the American Basketball Association in 2015-16 in San Antonio, Texas, and head assistant of the men’s basketball team at the University of Puget Sound (UPS) from 2011-2014. He also assisted boys high school teams at his alma mater, Kentwood High (2010-2012) and Tahoma High (2009-2010). He coached various grassroots programs as well, including BallinIsaHabit (17U girls), Cloud Supreme (17U boys) based out of San Antonio, and Emerald City Basketball Academy in Auburn from 2009-2013.
